An extra stage in which the player
faces all of the bosses of the game, one after another.
There are several
variations on the classic Boss Rush formula. The previously defeated
bosses may have been given upgrades to remain a challenge or stay at
the same level as when they were defeated, showcasing your progress
since you last saw them. Alternatively a Boss Rush could feature a single new boss
who displays the abilities and attack patterns of previous bosses.
Boss Rush levels
typically take place near the end of the game, often as a lead up to
the final boss or as a bonus level following the games completion.
Games which
exclusively feature Boss-tier enemies such as Shadow of the
Colossus and Titan
Souls are often informally
referred to as “Boss Rush games”.
Thanks for
checking out this weeks “Words to know”, whose title is actually
starting to grow on me so it may be sticking around. Once again a
lack of my own posts to link to has left me with no choice but to
recommend you have a look at Outside
Xbox's ongoing Let's Play of Red
Dead Redemption, which is a lot of fun.
